Many Albertans have, or know someone who has experienced – the hardships of drought and flood.

Ducks Unlimited Canada has numerous and diverse projects across Alberta’s landscapes, many of which retain large quantities of water. These water retention projects throughout the province quietly and reliably deliver a host of essential services to Albertans.

In addition to drought and flood mitigation, these projects provide a host of benefits, including stock and irrigation water, water quality enhancement, and exceptional habitat that supports remarkable biodiversity.

As time goes on, these projects require maintenance and repairs to keep delivering their valuable functions to Albertans. Their key importance on the landscape warrants support and investment by government and other stakeholders to ensure these functions continue to be enjoyed for generations to come.
