Good dogs

When we asked our social media followers to share photos of their favourite dogs, turns out we were barking up the right tree!

“Whiskey is my new puppy. She’s five months old and getting ready for her first hunting season. She’s doing great in her training.”

Talk about a case of puppy love! Cases, actually. In they came, images of large breeds and small, their personalities on full display. Better still: many arrived striking a pose against spectacular outdoor backdrops — reminding us that our four-legged pals love natural spaces as much as their hoomans do.

While we believe every dog should have its day, we had to narrow down the selection to “best in show.” All are pooch pawsitive that our conservation community love their canine companions. Paws down. We double-dog dare you to disagree.

This good boy here is in training as a mobility assistance dog to help me mitigate the challenges that come after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. He helps keep me balanced (literally) and checks in on me if I am having a rough day.

River is an English springer spaniel. A polyvalent, energetic dog but duck hunting is his favourite hunt as he loves water reports. He sulks when I miss my target.

Duke is the best, he's always up for walks and adventures. His favourite activity is hiking and sniffing out all the wildlife. He's always up for a canoe ride or paddle board, as long as he's with his people.

She was rescued as a stray from a remote community starving and with mange as a puppy and has lived with us since she was eight months old. She is the absolute best dog ever and now lives in luxury with a toy subscription every month, a closet full of different collars for each season, and gets breakfast in bed every day. Her favourite pastimes are playing with her squeaky toys at 3:00 a.m., hiking, and joining in on our fishing adventures.

This is our beautiful golden retriever, Whiskey! He quickly become the love of our lives and stole the hearts of anyone that’s met him. We live on the St. Lawrence next to Cooper Marsh and his favourite hobby is to swim to the island in front of our property and chase all the geese off the island. He absolutely loves the water; we take him out on the boat regularly and he gets a good swim in almost every night. This is just one of thousands of beautiful pictures that we have of him.
